John Griffiths, Kyoshi, 8th Dan, USA - President
Chandler Kyoshi began his martial arts training in Shorin Ryu Matsumura Orthodox and Uechi Ryu Do in 1972 while in the US Marine stationed Okinawa, Chandler Kyoshi continued his training under several of Okinawa's leading authorities on Karate and Kobudo and trained under the direct tutelage of Takaya Yabiku Hanshi and Seiji Irimaji Hanshi, 10 Dan, Kojo Ryu until Kyoshi Chandler's death in 2009. He taught a small group of select, private students until his death and those students continue in his footsteps.
Griffiths Kyoshi began his martial arts training in 1977 studying Shorin Ryu Matsumura Orthodox. Griffiths Kyoshi has continued his training in Shorin Ryu Matsumura Orthodox and Hakutsuru. He was a private student of Chandler Kyoshi and continues Kyoshi Chandler's legacy. The association was passed to him according to the wishes of Chuck Chandler's family.
Hohan Soken was born in Okinawa in 1889, the Great Grandson of Soken "Bushi" Matsumura. Soken's uncle, Nabe Matsumura, "Bushi's" Grandson, was one of the top karate masters at the time. Nabe offered to tutor Soken in Bushido, "the way of the warrior." Soken began training with Nabe Matsumura at age 13.
When Hohan Soken was 23, his sensei told him that he was ready to learn "real" karate. Hohan Soken was finally ready to learn the ancient secret of Hakutsuru.
Yabiku Hanshi and Chandler Kyoshi were students of Soken Hanshi.
O'Sensei Hohan Soken passed away in November of 1982 at the age of 93.

Saburo Kochinda was born May 22, 1905. He studied under leading authorities of Kobudo during their time such as Moden Yabiku, Akamine, Kochinda Chiken Taria and Masami Chinen. Takaya Yabiku started his training under Kochinda Sensei at an early age. In 1990 Kochinda Sensei gave his Menkyo Kaiden to Takaya Yabiku. Kochinda Sensei passed away on June 25, 1998 at the age of 93 years. Today his style of Yamani Ryu is called Kochinda Ryu Kobudo by his followers. He has one son, Akida, who no longer practices Kobudo.
